CULTURE NEWS

  • Penn State coach Bill Jeffrey transformed the local soccer program between 1926 and 1952 and led the 1950 U.S. team to a stunning World Cup upset over England, with his legacy honored on campus by the naming of Jeffrey Field (a cherished local landmark).  StateCollege.com

  • Dom DeLuca built his career at Penn State, recording 164 tackles and five interceptions as he turned from a walk-on into a starting linebacker, and he is meeting multiple NFL teams today after his Pro Day although he is projected to go undrafted.  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State Baseball (8-21, 3-9 Big Ten) lost to No. 19 Nebraska by a score of 8 to 6 Sunday at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park; the team will host the FDU Knights Tuesday in State College.  Onward State
  • Penn State freshman Mason Blackwood will enter the transfer portal after playing 26 games with modest averages. Coach Mike Rhoades praised his work ethic and promising effort as Blackwood (a former four-star recruit) looks to explore new opportunities.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State men's basketball forward Mason Blackwood entered the transfer portal Sunday evening and will seek a new program when the portal window opens Tuesday; he is the third Nittany Lion to leave the team this offseason.  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State women’s lacrosse defeated Ohio State 18-9 on Monday, Apr. 6 as Kelly MacKinney scored seven goals (the decisive player) with Sydney Manning making key saves. The team will host Oregon at Panzer Stadium Thursday, Apr. 9.  Onward State
  • Penn State men's basketball re-signed starting center Ivan Jurić and added overseas players Roko Prkačin and François Wibaut for its 2026-27 squad, according to DraftExpress. Jurić returned as a starter while Prkačin and Wibaut bolster the team as the only two offseason additions.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State men's basketball forward Mason Blackwood entered the transfer portal after playing 26 games last season with averages of 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds. The former three-star recruit from New Hampton High School has three years of eligibility remaining and now seeks a new team.  Onward State
