  • Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. held its annual Take Back the Night event on April 2 in State College (during Sexual Assault Awareness Month), where community members and students shared survivor stories and received key resources (counseling, advocacy and case management) before ending the event with a glowstick vigil outside Old Main.  Daily Collegian

  • Director Vagner Mendonça Whitehead leads an interactive performance called Left Listening: Conversations on Freedom, Care and More today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in HUB-Robeson Galleries’ Art Alley—he will talk with visitors and record his exchanges through knitting.  Penn State

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Penn State researchers used a new 3D printing method to fuse low-carbon stainless steel and bronze into a complex gyroid shape—demonstrating a process that once required welding. They plan to improve the technique with in-process monitoring and different build orientations, which may lead to production-ready parts for heat exchangers and biomedical implants.  Penn State
  • On April 6, Penn State Kinesiology’s Master of Athletic Training program will hold a simulated mass casualty incident with the College of Medicine, Nese College of Nursing, and Penn State EMS on the HUB-Robeson Center lawn from 10 a.m. to noon, where student actors will pose as injured athletes so athletic training students can practice emergency care while nearby residents are asked not to call emergency services.  Penn State

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Penn State Climate Consortium announced that Nemonte Nenquimo—an Indigenous activist and Waorani Nation leader from Ecuador's Amazon—will deliver the keynote address at the 2025 Climate Solutions Symposium. The event will be held May 19 and 20 at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center and is expected to boost local environmental efforts.  Penn State

  • Penn State softball will host Rutgers at Beard Field this weekend for a three-game Big Ten series as they start conference play. The Nittany Lions hold a 2 to 5 record while the Scarlet Knights are 1 to 6, and standout player Brooke Klosowicz—who has a .484 batting average—leads Penn State's offense.  Daily Collegian
