COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The State College Food Bank is marking two years at its new (18,000 sqft) facility at 169 Gerald Street by hosting an open house on April 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will offer a look at how community support fuels its ongoing work.  StateCollege.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Graduates can plan their photo sessions at Penn State using popular spots like Nittany Lion Shrine, historic Old Main, and scenic areas such as the Arboretum and Mount Nittany (plus favorite corners downtown). The guide offers essential advice for capturing meaningful moments.  Onward State
  • The Department of Architecture at Stuckeman School will host Momoyo Kaijima (architectural behaviorology expert) on April 8 at 4 p.m. in the Family Building Jury Space; the free lecture also will stream live on Zoom.  Penn State
  • Nine Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences students took a spring break trip to Brazil in 2025 to study beef production across farms, research centers, and government programs (including visiting the Federal University of Goiás); the program, funded by Ag Sciences Global and college endowments, strengthened university ties.  Penn State
  • The College of the Liberal Arts has selected 35+ student marshals to serve at the commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 9 at Bryce Jordan Center. The students were recognized for their academic and campus contributions.  Penn State
  • Penn State Campus Dining will host a Carnival dinner at University Park dining commons on Wednesday, April 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. Dinner will feature treats (chicken on a stick, impossible Greek gyros, and corn dogs) and fun activities like face painting and balloon art.  Penn State

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a resolution to designate April 8 as THON Day statewide to honor Penn State THON's fight against childhood cancer. Residents can join in by wearing THON gear or the school colors to show their support.  Onward State
  • Centre County’s Crisis Intervention Team launched the Blue Envelope Project to help drivers with autism during traffic stops by offering blue envelopes with key documents plus communication tips. The free, voluntary program is available at State College Police Department and other local offices.  StateCollege.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State men's lacrosse beat Ohio State 13-6 today at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium, and coach Jeff Tambroni said the team is building confidence ahead of a road trip to face Johns Hopkins this weekend.  Onward State
  • Penn State football announced its Blue-White Practice on April 25 at Beaver Stadium at 1 p.m. A block party runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a kids combine is set for the Friday before at Holuba Hall.  StateCollege.com
  • Erika Ho, star attacker for Penn State women’s lacrosse (in her final season) begins mentoring teammates and driving a balanced offense after recovering from an injury. Coach Kayla Treanor expects her experience to help the Nittany Lions win as they aim for a national championship.  Daily Collegian
  • After winning a Big Ten series sweep over Rutgers last weekend but falling to Pittsburgh by one run, Penn State will play Maryland in three conference games at home to try and bounce back.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State long snapper Tyler Duzansky posted strong results at his Pro Day with 20 bench press reps and a 9-foot-7 broad jump. He will be featured in an NFL Draft profile series from April 23–26 and aims to follow teammate Chris Stoll into the NFL.  StateCollege.com
