  • On Thursday, Mar. 26, Chris Smalls delivered a keynote speech on solidarity for Students for Justice in Palestine at Kippi Hall in University Park as part of the Week of Action, and his talk brought community members together + featured art by Bee Barker to underscore local unity.  Daily Collegian

CULTURE NEWS

  • Zara Larsson will headline Movin’ On 2026 at the IM fields on May 1 - a free festival featuring The Dare, That Mexican OT, student performer Slayyyter and the Penn State BATTLE winner. Attendees must be 18 or older.  Onward State
  • Movin’ On, the student-run music festival at IM Fields, announced its lineup for its May 1 send-off event featuring headliner Zara Larsson, the BATTLE winner, Slayyyter, That Mexican OT plus The Dare as closing act. Entry is free with valid Penn State or government-issued ID.  Penn State

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Veteran media executive Patty Michalski (Hearst senior vice president) will present the annual Oweida Lecture in Journalism Ethics at Penn State on April 15 at 6 p.m. in 112 Chambers Building. This free public event offers a look into ethical challenges in journalism.  Penn State
  • Donna Palumbo, executive director of the Center for Supply Chain Research at Penn State Smeal College of Business, was named to Supply & Demand Chain Executive's 2026 Pros to Know list, marking her fourth consecutive honor. She has expanded the center's programming portfolio and strengthened partnerships since joining in 2024.  Penn State
  • Penn State led a consortium awarded a $6M DOE grant to revitalize nuclear facilities and expand workforce opportunities for underserved students. The project will build a research consortium and facility at Penn State’s Radiation Science and Engineering Center — home to the Breazeale Reactor — to safely study microscopic samples.  Penn State
  • During Brain Awareness Week, Penn State experts Nikki Crowley and Santhosh Girirajan held a Q&A at The Village at Penn State where they explained brain health and research opportunities. The event offered local seniors a close look at science behind mental wellness — sparking curiosity about future programs.  Penn State
  • Penn State honored winners of its first Innovation to Impact Awards on March 25 at the Nittany Lion Inn. The gala recognized faculty, researchers, and entrepreneurs for turning research into useful products like LionGlass and a new biopesticide (a breakthrough from the lab) that benefits the community.  Penn State

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spring leaf collection in the borough starts Monday, Mar. 30, with Public Works (crews) collecting leaves weekly until May 7. Enforcement of the grass and weeds ordinance begins Tuesday, Mar. 31 and continues through Oct. 31 (lawns over 6 inches receive one warning before a $50 fine).  StateCollege.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State’s men’s volleyball team swept NJIT 3-0 Friday night in Rec Hall, with key plays from Sean Harvey and Owen Rose. The team will play game two against NJIT today at 3 p.m. in Rec Hall, with the match streamed on Big Ten Plus.  Onward State
  • Penn State rescheduled its series finale against Northwestern for April 12 to start at 11:30 a.m. at Nittany Lion Softball Park and Beard Field.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State, leaning on young forward Gavin McKenna & experienced freshmen, readies for its sixth NCAA Tournament game at 9 p.m. Friday in MVP Arena against Minnesota-Duluth, and the mix of playoff experience could propel the team toward its first national championship.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State men’s hockey seniors are heading into their third NCAA Tournament after a strong comeback season and a historic Frozen Four run. The team plans to win its first national title in the upcoming postseason (a goal achieved through years of hard work).  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State track athletes competed at the Raleigh Relays and Knights Invite this weekend, setting personal bests in events like the 1500-meter and steeplechase with runners Jacob Smith + Tyler Rader among the standouts.
