- ➤ Today, the Department of Art History Dickson Lecture Series will screen the film We Were Here: The Untold History of Black Africans in Renaissance Europe and host a Q&A with director Fred Kudjo Kuwornu in 112 Borland (5–7 p.m.) as the film examines the contributions of Black Africans during the Renaissance. - ➤ Happy Valley Animation Festival returns to Penn State’s University Park campus for its fifth year with free public events showcasing animated works by students, early career, and professional artists. The festival starts on March 27 with a showcase at the HUB Flex Theater (7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) and continues with screenings at Palmer Museum of Art on March 29, Carnegie Cinema on April 1, and a gallery exhibition running from May 1 through May 22 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). - ➤ The Penn State Competitive Cyber Security Organization will host its first national Capture the Flag event, SillyCTF, on March 29 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The virtual competition is open to everyone and college students with an .edu email address can win prizes + develop their cybersecurity skills in challenges like cryptography and forensics. - ➤ Penn State’s Society of Women Engineers supports women in engineering by hosting events that build leadership skills and offer networking with companies. The group will hold a collaborative event next week in the Engineering Design and Innovation Building—featuring poster exhibitions, activities, and food. Daily Collegian
- ➤ The College of Engineering’s Office of Corporate and Industry Engagement is hosting I-CONNECT: Intellectual Property and Innovation to show engineering faculty how to use their work to spark new ideas. The free hybrid workshop will take place on April 2 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. ET at 504 Engineering Collaborative Research and Education Building (ECoRE) and online. Penn State
- ➤ Fox Graduate School—marking its 40th year—will host nearly 300 graduate students who will present research, design, visual arts, performance and video projects on March 28 at University Park. A video gallery is available from March 24 to 28 and live exhibits run from 1 to 4 p.m. with musical performances from 7 to 9 p.m.—all events are free and awards up to $1,000 in various categories will be offered—inviting the community to engage with cutting-edge scholarship. - ➤ On a cold March night in State College, No. 9 Ohio State held back the No. 4 Penn State men’s lacrosse team to a 13—9 loss as its strong goalie, Caleb Fyock, made 17 saves. Coach Jeff Tambroni said the team learned from the defeat — it will work to improve as it faces a heavy Big Ten slate. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State baseball begins a challenging five-game week with a home game against Pittsburgh at 5:30 p.m. today; the team will face Bucknell Wednesday and then travel to play Michigan in a three-game series from March 28 through March 30—each game is key for their season. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Japan's Masanosuke Ono, the reigning world freestyle champion at 61kg, announced his commitment to Penn State wrestling on Monday via FloWrestling Radio+ He trained in State College with the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club and will compete in the 133 or 141 weight class after defeating former Iowa national champion Spencer Lee+ StateCollege.com
