CULTURE NEWS

  • The 19th annual Penn State Traditional American Indian Powwow will take place March 29-30 at C3 Sports Complex (200 Ellis Place) in State College with free admission for families. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on March 29 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 30 and will include a Grand Entry at noon, dance, music and Native foods (coordinator John Sanchez confirmed details).  Penn State
  • At a lab space off Porter Road, the Penn State Model Railway Club has built a 30-foot long cityscape layout featuring blue and white locomotives, buildings and crafted details that reflect its long ties to campus culture—founded in 1955 and on its sixth layout. The club will host a spring open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 12-13 for visitors to view the display.  Penn State

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Penn State Smeal College of Business announced its partnership with the Deloitte Foundation to fund scholarships covering 100% tuition and fees for students pursuing a fifth-year master’s program in accounting, tax or audit. Ten students already received support in the 24–25 academic year and applications for the 2025–26 school year must be submitted by April 1.  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Aiden Fink, a sophomore hockey player at Penn State from Calgary, was named a top-10 Hobey Baker Award finalist on March 19 after breaking school records for points, assists, and game-winning goals—he led the Big Ten in points per game and assists, and the award winner will be announced on April 11.  Daily Collegian
  • Former Penn State coach Ed DeChellis retired from Navy after 14 seasons; he coached at Penn State from 2004—11, earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors in 2009, and led the team to a 2011 NCAA Tournament appearance. He announced his retirement on March 19th.  Daily Collegian
  • Bryce Molinaro led Penn State to a win over St. Bonaventure with a triple and a two-run single that drove in key runs. Coach Gambino said Molinaro’s disciplined hitting and swift base running helped boost the team’s record (15-4 start) and set the stage for more wins.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State women’s gymnastics will travel to Ann Arbor for the Big Ten Championships this weekend. The team will compete in the second session at noon on Saturday — with Iowa, Maryland and Illinois in their group — and the meet will air on Big Ten Network.  Daily Collegian
