CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Lil Wayne will perform at Bryce Jordan Center on Sept. 18 as part of the 20 Years Of Carter Classics event. Students can buy $30 tickets at 10 a.m. on March 19 with PSU ID, and general sales begin on March 20 for the 7 p.m. show. Onward State
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Keith Aronson, director of the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State, received a 2026-27 Opportunity Grant to form an international collaboration with the Veterans and Families Institute at Anglia Ruskin University (UK) for research on military-to-civilian transitions. - ➤ Penn State recognized 22 staff members in its regular 'We Are!' feature for going above and beyond in roles (including research, teaching, and support). Colleagues nominated them for their strong work that helps the university community every day. Penn State
- ➤ Acclaimed science-fiction author Ted Chiang will deliver the 2026 Richard B. Lippin Lecture in Ethics on Mar. 25 at 6 p.m. in Freeman Auditorium at the HUB on campus; his talk will explore how generative AI may clash with art and is free to attend. Penn State
- ➤ Brenna Fitzpatrick is in her third year as a plant sciences major at Penn State who was named a finalist for the Truman Scholarship for her work in agricultural education and campus food security. She will interview with the foundation's Regional Review Panels on April 8 to advance her public service goals. Penn State
- ➤ Penn State's TLT is inviting faculty to self-nominate for its Faculty Advisory Committee (2026-28) until April 13. Selected members will advise on how technology is used in teaching across campus and be notified in early May. Penn State
- ➤ Researchers at Penn State (using graphene) have developed a new field-effect transistor that makes sensors up to 20 times more responsive even in liquids like water or the human body. They plan to further refine the design for commercial use and early detection of chemical markers. Penn State
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Anna George is named the new executive director of Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center (founded in 1976) with Penn State Outreach. She will begin on April 27 as the center celebrates 50 years and expands its environmental education programs across the region. Penn State

- ➤ Penn State women’s hockey held a media conference on Monday as the team looked ahead to its first Frozen Four appearance at Pegula Ice Arena. Coach Jeff Kampersal praised the players (including seniors preparing for their final season) for their yearlong dedication building this historic season. Daily Collegian
