CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A special hour-long preview of the Penn State Powwow is scheduled for March 27 at 4 p.m. at the Bellisario Media Center on University Park campus—featuring a Native American storyteller and free pawpaw-flavored ice cream from the Berkey Creamery. Penn State
- ➤ The 2025 Golumbic Scholarship Exhibition opens today at the Borland Project Space in the Borland Building, Room 125, showcasing works by 11 students from Penn State's College of Arts and Architecture. An opening reception runs from noon to 2 p.m. and the exhibit continues until March 21. Penn State
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Undergraduates in need can now get free school supplies from the new program offered by the Penn State Chaiken Center—located on the University Park campus—with additional supply closets at Altoona and Hazleton. Students may visit every two weeks during business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Penn State
- ➤ Graduate students at Penn State will compete in the final round of the Three Minute Thesis competition at 3 p.m. on March 29 with presentations livestreamed from the Nittany Lion Inn—community members are invited to register to attend and vote for the People’s Choice Award winner. Penn State
- ➤ Penn State alumni Bill and Kathryn Donato endowed a $2.5 million academic excellence fund for Schreyer Honors College and named a classroom in Atherton Hall to support research, new courses and student services. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday into Monday morning, heavy storms knocked down trees and power lines across Centre County, leaving more than 11,000 homes and businesses without power. Emergency crews responded to dangerous conditions as several schools closed and calls to 911 peaked between 3 and 7 p.m. Onward State
- ➤ Penn State researchers found that native insects such as spined soldier bugs and praying mantises ate spotted lanternflies in lab tests — this may lower the need for chemical sprays that can harm good bugs. They will soon test these predators in the field to see if they can help reduce damage to vineyards, orchards and nurseries. Penn State

- ➤ Seven Mountains Tai Chi in downtown State College begins a 6-week beginner Tai Chi course today from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 213 Calder Way, where participants practice wellness exercises to improve balance and reduce fatigue. Downtown State College

- ➤ On Monday, Penn State wrestling coach Cael Sanderson held his final media availability ahead of Thursday's NCAA Championships at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. He said the team did well at the Big Ten Championships and that key wrestlers like Josh Barr, Braeden Davis and Levi Haines are ready for the next big challenge—competing in a tournament close to home.
