  • Nittany Valley Symphony will celebrate American music with 'America at 250' at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 19, in Eisenhower Auditorium — a program featuring works from Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and John Williams. Parking starts at $5.60 if reserved in advance.  Penn State

  • Penn State professors Bettina Brandt and Daniel L. Purdy (from a 2022 College of the Liberal Arts conference) co-edited a new book on German race theories published by Oxford University Press. The volume connects historical debates with challenges we see today.  Penn State
  • On Wednesday, April 8, the PSHRS Industry Awards and Reception at Penn State University Park will honor Marriott's Leeny Oberg as Hospitality Executive of the Year, noting her role in Marriott's growth (she is set to retire March 31). Registration is open for attendees.  Penn State
  • Two Penn State researchers have been named senior members of the National Academy of Inventors; Abhronil Sengupta & Joshua Benjestorf join 230 academics from 82 institutions and will be honored at a ceremony in June.  Penn State
  • Penn State student Sofia Hoffman spent a month in Ecuador’s Amazon Basin with Kichwa communities to document contamination concerns linked to off-the-grid oil extraction in Yasuní National Park. Her research combined Indigenous mapping with engineering methods (guided by geography faculty) to direct local environmental sampling.  Penn State
  • The Stuckeman School in the College of Arts and Architecture will host design and computation theorist George Stiny for a lecture on shape grammars and art on March 18 at 4 p.m. in the Stuckeman Jury Space (his talk draws from his book 'Shapes of Imagination').  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Penn State center Yanic Konan Niederhauser suffered a Lisfranc injury during a Clippers game against the Pacers on Wednesday, and he will miss the rest of the 2025-26 season as he awaits surgery (according to official reports).  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State men’s hockey forward Charlie Cerrato is scheduled to return for the team’s final regular-season game against No. 11 Wisconsin after missing games due to an injury sustained in January (he was one of the team’s top offensive contributors).  Onward State
  • Penn State wrestlers hold seven No. 1 seeds with eight first-round byes as the Big Ten Championships begin today at Bryce Jordan Center. Final brackets set on Friday include shifts like Levi Haines moving to the top at 174 pounds.  StateCollege.com
