CULTURE NEWS

  • The Penn State Philharmonic Orchestra will perform 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Eisenhower Auditorium with a program that features Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2 with Ziyi Ji as soloist, the world premiere of Gabriel Newvine's Pockets and Spaces, and Schoenberg's A Survivor from Warsaw narrated by Ted Christopher.  Penn State

ECONOMY NEWS

  • United Airlines will increase daily flights from State College Regional Airport beginning March 30, offering up to six flights to Chicago O’Hare and four to Dulles, and American Airlines will later add four daily flights to Philadelphia, which will boost capacity by about 20,000 seats to meet growing demand.  StateCollege.com

  • The Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication will honor four leaders known for ethical journalism at a free virtual event on March 23 at 7 p.m. ET from University Park, including Kaitlan Collins, Jeffrey Goldberg, Hubert Joly, and Kelli Parsons.  Penn State
  • Penn State University Libraries will email undergraduates on Tuesday, Feb. 17 to invite participation in a confidential survey on library use; responses submitted by Tuesday, March 10 will enter a drawing for one of 20 $50 Penn State Bookstore gift cards.  Penn State
  • Transportation Services announced the spring 2026 Bike Den schedule in the West Deck — a resource offering free bike repair and maintenance workshops for Penn State students and local community members.   • SAFES will hold its first talk in the 'Water, Energy, and Data Centers in Pennsylvania' seminar series on Feb. 24 at University Park; professor Wangda Zuo will discuss data center cooling challenges and emerging trends during the noon-to-1 p.m. session (room 342, Rodney A.   • A new Penn State study in mice shows that high-fat and keto diets cause more weight gain and liver damage than high-carbohydrate or whole-grain diets. Researchers say that adding fiber may help lessen these harmful effects (highlighting the need for balanced nutrition).  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State wrestlers beat No. 10 Michigan 38—3 in their final road dual, keeping individual rankings unchanged in the coaches poll. They will host No. 2 Ohio State at the Bryce Jordan Center on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.  Onward State
  • Penn State forward Gavin McKenna, tied for the team lead at 32 points, is set to face No. 2 Michigan at Yost Ice Arena Friday at 6:30 p.m. (he had one charge dropped but still faces another proceeding) and NHL scouts expect him to boost the offense.  Onward State
  • Former Penn State cornerback D’Anton Lynn has returned to coach at his alma mater after a coaching staff overhaul. Drawing on his experience at UCLA and USC, he is studying film and blending returning players and transfers as spring practices approach.  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State women’s basketball lost to Michigan State on Saturday after a breakthrough win against Purdue last week, and coach Carolyn Kieger said the team is united and building confidence for tomorrow’s game against Maryland as they head toward the Big Ten tournament.  Daily Collegian
  • No. 4 Penn State women’s hockey swept Lindenwood last weekend with wins of 6-3 and 5-0, breaking AHA records and boosting key players’ stats. Coach Jeff Kampersal set a new conference win record while goalie Katie DeSa earned a season best 10 shutouts.  Daily Collegian
  • Coach Mike Rhoades held a Zoom press conference on Tuesday to say he feels no extra job pressure and gave updates on player injuries; the team will face Washington tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET + Ivan Jurić and Eli Rice are among those returning.  Daily Collegian
