GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A winter storm with 8 to 18 inches of snow is expected to begin late Saturday night in Centre County and cause travel restrictions and service closures. Multiple boroughs declared snow emergencies, and schools + government offices in State College will adjust operations on Sunday. StateCollege.com
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Saturday, Penn State wrestlers defeated Maryland 51-0 in College Park by scoring bonus points in every bout. The win kept the team undefeated at 11-0 and extended its dual meet win record to 82 while they prepare to host Nebraska Friday at the Bryce Jordan Center. StateCollege.com
- ➤ Penn State women’s gymnastics won against Maryland at Rec Hall on Saturday with a score of 197.250 to 196.675 despite a winter storm warning. The team achieved its highest season score with strong routines on vault, bars, beam, and floor. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State men’s volleyball lost to McKendree 3-1 Saturday at the Melvin Price Convocation Center. The Nittany Lions will host Hawaii for a White Out game and two-game series on Friday, Jan. 30 (Rec Hall). Onward State
- ➤ No. 1 Penn State wrestling shut out Maryland (51-0) Saturday evening in College Park, marking their seventh shutout of the season. The Nittany Lions will face Nebraska at 8 p.m. Friday at the Bryce Jordan Center. Onward State
- ➤ Penn State men’s hockey swept the series with a 3-1 comeback win against Wisconsin Saturday night at the Kohl Center (the team will host No. 2 Michigan State on Friday, Jan. 30 at Pegula Ice Arena). Daily Collegian
- ➤ Yesterday, the Penn State track team returned for action at the Penn Elite meet in Philadelphia, earning personal bests in multiple events and breaking school records (including in the 3000m and 200m). The team will return home on Friday for the National Open at the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State women's hockey celebrated Senior Day Saturday by honoring six seniors + two grad students as they recorded a 7-0 win over Delaware in a two-game series, clinching the AHA Regular Season Championship.
