CULTURE NEWS

  • The College of Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum & Art Gallery announced a new student-curated exhibit, Through Different Eyes: Industrial Worlds by Women Artists, that opens tomorrow, Jan. 22, with a free reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on the ground floor of the Deike Building; the exhibit runs through December.  Penn State

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Penn State University Park earned the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification, recognizing its over 100 community programs that serve Happy Valley and beyond. The award (valid until 2032) underscores its commitment to outreach and service.  Onward State
  • Penn State Extension offers a 30% discount on urban forestry guides and publications through April to help communities + landowners access research-based tree care and land management tips; more details are on its website.  Penn State
  • Penn State Extension is hosting a Land-Use Webinar Series (available online) at noon today that will run monthly through May. The sessions cover equitable planning, community food access, leadership development and affordable housing while offering professional credits and six-month recording access.  Penn State

SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State wrestling remains No. 1 in the NWCA coaches poll as six Nittany Lion wrestlers hold individual No. 1 rankings after wins against Iowa and Northwestern, and the team will host Indiana Hoosiers at Rec Hall on Friday, Jan. 23.  Onward State
  • Penn State men’s hockey players DiMarsico and McKenna earned Big Ten weekly honors on Jan. 20 after sweeping Notre Dame, with DiMarsico scoring four goals including a hat trick and McKenna adding key points. Penn State will face Wisconsin on the road this weekend.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State women's lacrosse attacker Erika Ho earned an honorable mention on the USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American list after a standout 2025 season where she ranked 23rd nationally in draw controls. The team will open its season on Saturday, Feb. 7 against the Richmond Spiders.  Onward State
  • Penn State women's hockey forward Matilde Fantin was named to Italy’s Olympic roster and will compete in games in Milan and Cortina starting Feb. 5. The standout freshman recorded eight goals and 10 assists this season (she will face teammate Anna Hall on Feb. 7).  Daily Collegian
  • After a dominant performance against Iowa and Northwestern last weekend, Penn State will face Indiana and Maryland this weekend. Coach Cael Sanderson praised the team's strong character and top wrestler Rocco Welsh for earning No. 1 status in his weight class (boosting their season’s momentum).  Daily Collegian
