SPORTS NEWS

  • Penn State wrestling won 46-0 against Rutgers at Rec Hall Saturday evening, earning its 78th consecutive dual victory; the team will travel to Iowa City Friday, Jan. 16 to take on No. 4 Iowa in a Big Ten Network broadcast.  Onward State
  • Penn State hockey beat Minnesota 5-2 at Pegula Ice Arena Saturday night, with five players scoring and Aiden Fink setting a record for fastest to 100 points. The win completed a Big Ten sweep and the team will host Notre Dame Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 8 p.m.  StateCollege.com
  • Penn State's men's basketball lost 93-85 to No. 5 Purdue on Saturday in West Lafayette, with Freddie Dilione V scoring 25 points + Melih Tunca adding 14 off the bench. The Nittany Lions will face UCLA at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bryce Jordan Center.  Onward State
  • Penn State has graded its new defensive coaching staff ahead of the 2026 season. Head coach Matt Campbell’s hires include D’Anton Lynn (rated B), Ikaika Malloe (rated A), and Terry Smith (rated A) as the team prepares on campus.  StateCollege.com
  • No. 13 Penn State men's volleyball swept Manhattan 3-0 on Saturday at Rec Hall South Gym, with Sean Harvey leading with 14 kills & the team now sitting at 2-0. They will face St. Thomas Aquinas at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15.  Onward State
  • Penn State running back Tikey Hayes entered the transfer portal after he said he would return for the 2026 season, and his decision comes as roster changes continue with Cam Wallace set to remain on the team.  Daily Collegian
  • Penn State running back Cam Wallace will return for the 2026 season after deciding on Instagram to pull his Jan. 2 transfer portal entry. He appeared in four games this season with six carries for 23 yards and still has two years of eligibility.  Daily Collegian
  • Safety Christian Askew committed to Penn State's 2026 class after announcing his decision on Instagram Saturday. The recruit from Veterans High School (Kathleen, Georgia) becomes the third safety to join the team.  Daily Collegian
  • Former Penn State defensive end Chaz Coleman transferred to Tennessee and will have three seasons of eligibility left as he joins former teammates in Knoxville. The four-star recruit was ranked among the top edge rushers in the transfer portal.  Onward State
  • Defensive end Dayshaun Burnett announced Saturday via X that he will return for the 2026 season at Penn State. The freshman did not play in 2025 to keep four years of eligibility and played at Imani Christian Academy in Pittsburgh.  Daily Collegian
  • Tyler Duzansky, Penn State long snapper, declared for the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday. He aims to be the first from his position drafted from the school — joining three others who reached the NFL undrafted.  Onward State
  • Safety Chris Fileppo, who recorded 12 tackles (including one tackle for loss) for West Virginia has committed to transfer to Penn State. The Pennsylvania native announced his move on X.  Daily Collegian
