- ➤ A new Persian restaurant, Fire & Fig Grill, is preparing to open at 1100 N. Atherton St. in State College, replacing Kimchi after 19 years in business; the family-run eatery has not yet announced its opening date. StateCollege.com
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Huck Institutes has called for life sciences faculty at the associate or professor level to apply for its Leadership Fellows program that builds leadership skills through weekly executive meetings (8:30-10 a.m. Tuesdays). Applicants must submit required documents by Feb. 13 for a one-year term with a possible extension. Penn State
- ➤ Trusting News, a nonprofit that trains journalists to build credibility, will receive the 2026 Brown Democracy Medal this fall at University Park when founder Joy Mayer accepts the honor and presents a public lecture on rebuilding trust in journalism. Penn State
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Former Penn State football wide receiver Aaron Enterline announced his transfer to Towson on X. He played four games last season without recording a stat and still has three years of eligibility left. Onward State
- ➤ Keon Wylie, a former Penn State linebacker who tallied 47 tackles and 4.5 sacks over four years, has transferred to Virginia Tech after a midweek visit and confirmed his move on Jan. 8. He joins teammates following coach James Franklin at Blacksburg & strengthens the group. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Former Penn State safety King Mack will transfer to NC State after entering the portal on Jan. 2; the Florida native (a starter since four weeks into his junior season) previously played at Penn State and Alabama. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State signed former Utah defensive tackle Dallas Vakalahi after he played in nine games last season. He recorded 11 tackles as a sophomore (adding talent for upcoming contests) and now strengthens the Nittany Lions roster. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State's transfer portal activity grew as safety Dejuan Lane and receiver Tyseer Denmark reversed earlier return plans and sought new opportunities. The team hosted prospects such as defensive tackle Xion Chapman and running back Makhi Frazier while coach Matt Campbell worked to rebuild the roster in Happy Valley. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Hunter Albright, a walk-on offensive lineman from Saint Francis (a Hollidaysburg native), joined Penn State's football team after committing on Thursday; he did not appear in any games with Red Flash and will have four years of eligibility. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State freshman wide receiver Matt Outten, a 4-star prospect who redshirted last season without appearing in a game, will enter the transfer portal, according to CBS Sports. Outten was initially committed to Virginia Tech + flipped to Penn State. Daily Collegian
- ➤ Penn State women's lacrosse released its 2026 schedule with an opener against Richmond on Feb. 7 at Panzer Stadium and home games against UMass, Bucknell and Pitt. The team will play road games at Drexel and Cornell before starting Big Ten play on Mar. 22 (schedule continues through Apr. 18). Onward State
